Coming Soon...

The other day, I went to Michael's for some craft things and saw a big banner for a new store coming soon....Buy Buy Baby. I checked out the webiste and it is pretty much like a Babies R Us but with some different and more high end items(at least on the website). Sounds like a fun place to have close to us instead of going to Babies R Us all the time. Plus, Durham doesn't really have a lot of "baby stores" like Raleigh does. Can't wait to check it out!

What We've Been Up To

Well, baby Dillon's nursery is coming along nicely, we've been putting some more finishing touches on the walls like his monogram and bubbles all over the room! I love how it all turned out. I highly recommend vinyl wall decals....they are so easy!Monogram

Circles on one wall and Evan putting the light switch covers on, which we both painted

More circles

Both are from Etsy, which is one of my new favorite websites to find handmade products for a good price. Its also a good place to "steal" ideas of new crafts to try!

We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday over the weekend at Kanki Japanese Steakhouse(yum, Dillon was doing flips). Happy Birthday, Meg!

Not so great picture, but the only recent one of us

We have been taking it easy here, trying to stay cool is one of my main goals.....it has been so hot lately and I can't seen to cool off ever! I CANT WAIT until the fall for many reasons. :)

We don't have many plans before the baby comes, just the beach one weekend in August, my baby shower in September and an anniversary get-away in October....and enjoying our time as just the two of us for the last few months!

Still have the craft bug

I am having way too much fun making little things for the babies......

A girly bib for Stella and a polka dot burp cloth for Dillon. Both have terry cloth on the back and are finished off with a zig zag stitch. Hmm, what should I do next??

Trash to Treasure...Weekend Project

Evan and I have been looking for some short bookcases for a while to fit under a window in the nursery. Something to hold books and toys but doesn't take up a lot of space. We have pretty much covered every part of the room except for one empty space....until now! I spotted two cute little bookcases in the back room(the reject room) of an antique store. They were calling my name to save them from drowning in "antique" furniture. I knew they were perfect but Evan wanted to think about it first...he soon realized I was right(haha) in that we probably wouldn't be able to find real wood bookcases anywhere for that price. Sooooo he drove back to get them and what a great fit...but not a great color.....

So the next question...to stain or not to stain? Paint? What color? After some much needed interior decorator advice from a friend, we decided to paint them the same color as our other furniture(MUCH easier than staining...Evan was not thrilled with doing a stain). Evan did a GREAT job on the painting while I watched, crossing my fingers they wouldn't turn out red.they matched perfectly!!

We are going to attach them together as one unit and place them like they are in the picture with a bean bag pillow/chair to the right. Dillon's nursery is coming together nicely, I'm hoping to be done in the next couple months!

Cuteness....

Appliqued onesies are my new favorite craft. I made the car and tie(my favorite) with fabric scraps, spray adhesive, and then sewn around the border to make sure they dont go anywhere(They were not sewn yet in the picture). I plan on making lots of cute onesies for our little one...maybe an octopus or rocket ship next? Or a lacrosse stick?

Summer Excitements

There are many things these days that get me excited.....like the smell of Fresh Market, painting the nursery blue, feeling kicks from my baby boy, not so humid sunny days, sitting in the back of the pick-up on a cool night watching fireworks, smiles from our niece, sales on cute boy clothes, coming home to big packages in the kitchen, learning new crafts to sew for the babies, still being able to touch my toes....

Here are tons of pictures to update what we have been up to the past month....

* My dad built the craddle...Peter and myself slept in it when we were first born and I can't wait for our little one to rock to sleep in it as well :)

20 down...20 to go!

I can't believe how fast these first 20 weeks have gone by! In a way it is good but in a way it is kind of scary.....The next things on the list are getting our bedding for the nursery, paint to match and figuring out what/how we are going to paint on the walls. Our furniture is all in and set up(it looks great!) but I will post pictures when the nursery is complete!

belly is popping out!

Evan has been the best husband I could ever ask for while being pregnant....or any given day. I can't believe what I have gotten away with(not that I was trying to get away with anything)like lying in bed for 2 months straight! I feel so blessed to have someone who cares so much about his little family the way he does. He goes out of his way to make sure I am comfortable and happy. He has a pre daddy glow and excitement that makes me smile everyday...like when he checks the blog to see how many days until the next week of being preggers and tells me like I have no clue, its so cute. :) Honey, if you are reading this, if I haven't said it lately, thank you for being such a wonderful hubby....and so domestic. We would have been hungry and in dirty clothes for a couples months if it wasn't for you. haha. I will make it up to you by birthing your son! And I will make you some good dinners, I love you! :)
